To All My Democrat Friends
Plea...Merry Christmas
To All My Democrat Friends

Please accept with no obligation, implied or implicit, my best wishes for an environmentally conscious, socially responsible, low-stress, non-addictive, gender-neutral celebration of the winter solstice holiday, practiced within the most enjoyable traditions of the religious persuasion of your choice, or secular practices of your choice, with respect for the religious/secular persuasion and/or traditions of others, or their choice not to practice religious or secular traditions at all. I also wish you a fiscally successful, personally fulfilling and medically uncomplicated recognition of the onset of the generally accepted calendar year 2011 but not without due respect for the calendars of choice of other cultures whose contributions to society have helped make America great. Not to imply that America is necessarily greater than neither any other country nor the only America in the Western Hemisphere. Also, this wish is made without regard to the race, creed, color, age, physical ability, religious faith or sexual preference of the wisher.

To My Republican Friends:

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year

mark@mntaxwaste.comMark from Minnesota Tax Wastehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02348665399988147613noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8638998837390550464.post-24827469722169280982010-12-03T17:12:37.912-06:002010-12-03T17:12:37.912-06:00The cost is already up to $312,000 @ .15 @ 2,080,0...The cost is already up to $312,000 @ .15 @ 2,080,000 votes, and thats just low balling it mark@mntaxwaste.comMark from Minnesota Tax Wastehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02348665399988147613noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8638998837390550464.post-61396468831262715352010-11-17T17:59:31.976-06:002010-11-17T17:59:31.976-06:00"First thought: Name Tom Horner to be in your..."First thought: Name Tom Horner to be in your administration."

Earlier commenters panned the idea; I do, too. What would it contribute to the Dayton administration, other than a misplaced sense of bonhomie? Most Republicans think he is a lizard and a Quisling (in the Tony Sutton sense), and in spite of the message he tried to deliver in the campaign, he doesn't have much in the way of real policy chops.Stevehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07969988452643430382noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8638998837390550464.post-66253981172990197382010-11-11T06:19:08.780-06:002010-11-11T06:19:08.780-06:00Appointing Tom Horner will lose Dayton credibility...Appointing Tom Horner will lose Dayton credibility with the truly ideological Dems. It is the kind of politics that we have seen, particularly in the last two years, where political expediency has taken precedence over political philosophy and platform. This is a very slippery slope and, in my opinion, the reason for the relative lack of motivation within the left that we saw this time around.EdinaDemhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06772183500520577749noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8638998837390550464.post-74756032361287253482010-11-08T22:07:00.845-06:002010-11-08T22:07:00.845-06:00Opportunity is a favorable occasion for grasping a...Opportunity is a favorable occasion for grasping a disappointment.
- Ambrose BierceEmeryhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00523849258546459342noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8638998837390550464.post-3987675308369916462010-11-08T11:25:52.755-06:002010-11-08T11:25:52.755-06:00Appoint Horner? To what? he's a PR guy, so he doesn't have subject matter experience for any of the department heads. except for the vikings stadium, he and Mark disagreed on most of the details for government. So where would you put him that he might actually accept? I see the political benefit for finding him a place, but I don't know where the heck it would be.

Points 2 & 3 I agree with 100%.

It will be interesting to see the GOP decision regarding the recount and trying to keep Pawlenty in power. My GOP sources suggest it's the last thing T-Paw wants; he wants to be free to get out on the circuit and kick his POTUS bid into high gear. I agree that an attempt to run the table would cause a serious backlash, but considering how close the margins were in 2010 and how likely it would be that the DFL would be able to take things back in 2012 regardless...they might consider the gains they could make worth the price.

If you're gonna get run back out in 2 years anyways and have slim hopes of accomplishing much against the gov's veto pen, you might consider trying to run up the score and hope people forget down the road (or that by re-writing the rules you can save yourself). Plus, it's not like today's version of the GOP has shown much shame or modesty in their political efforts!Joshhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05853174464511326387noreply@blogger.com
